Guatemala: Pixcaya

Grown between 1850-1890 meters above sea level in the San Juan SacatepĆ©quez portion of Sierra Madres, this coffee has a very full body; creamy with an apple-like acidity; and pronounced malty black tea, aromatic caramel, rock candy sweetness, and some more "purple" fruit flavors lurking in the background. Manuel Zaghi Miron oversees all coffee production at Finca ConcepciĆ³n Pixcaya, where pine, avocado, and macadamia are also important crops.

A nice change from some of our more rustic or fruitier offerings from across the globe, this coffee illustrates how a coffee can be restrained yet complex; subdued without being plain.
