Finca Rosma was founded by owner Dr. Freddy Merida near Michicoy town in the San Pedro Necta area of Huehuetenago. Dr. Merida made it his priority to be sustainable in both environmental and social initiatives such as the construction of a proper road, which not only gave the farm better access, but to neighbours as well, and the acquisition of a natural water spring, about 5 km away from the plantation, which facilitated and improved the irrigation. They provide housing, schools and medical assistance to employees of the farm. To preserve soil and biodiversity the plantation is shade grown and the coffee strictly sun-dried. This is beneficial to the plantation, native forest and wildlife.
